Yet another inspiring poem from Speaking Tree(TOI).
Failure does not mean
I have accomplished nothing;
It does mean
I have learned something.
Failure does not mean
I have been a fool;
It does mean
I had enough faith to experiment.
Failure does not mean
I'm inferior;
It does mean I'm not perfect.
Failure does not mean
I've wasted my life;
It does mean that
I have an excuse to start over.
Failure does not mean that
I'll never make it;
It does mean that I need more practice.

The Budget of our life!!
Here is a very interesting piece of poetry published in the Times of India , special issue"The Speaking Tree" that I wanted to share it with my blog readers.TOI has recently come up with the Crest edition and the newly launched "The Speaking Tree" which offers a lot of interesting and useful articles to their readers.Their effort in bringing up these issues needs to be appreciated.Keep the good work going ,TOI team!!
Here is the poem:
Birth is our opening Balance,
Death , our closing balance,
Prejudiced views are our liabilities,
Creative ideas and good deeds, assets.
Heart is our current asset,
Soul, our fixed asset,
Brain, a fixed deposit,
Thinking, our current account.
Goodwill and achievements are our capital;
Character and morals, our stock-in-trade,
Friends, our general reserves,
Values and Behaviour, our goodwill.
Patience is interest earned, Love, our dividend,
Children, our bonus issues,
Education, a brand,
Knowledge is our investment.
Profit and loss is karma earned.
Before final assessment(death),
Balance your sheet!

WELCOME 2010!!
Happy New year to all my blog readers!!
It gives me immense pleasure to write this blog post. This is my NUMERO UNO post for this year.I had been wanting to write this from Jan 1st 2010 and finally today I was lucky enough to find some time, rather a very appropriate time for such a post. By appropriate I mean a relaxed afternoon time ,after a nice lunch of rice ,dal and fresh veggies cooked "by MEEE", neither very heavy, nor too light , just the right quantity that will not put you to sleep and helps in thinking.In addition to this a cosy couch and an air conditioned living room with the temperature just suitable for me(neither too cold nor very hot- a warm 24 degrees).A calm environment which helps to completely unwind, relax and introspect and no one to disturb the flow of thoughts.Ahhhh.. Is this what you call ultimate luxury!!??Atleast to me it is!!Not always shopping, partying, travelling is enjoyable. Sometimes being in your home sweet home is blissful. No wonder in the fast paced, materialistic life that we are leading, this space and time for oneself, to relax,unwind and introspect has become a rare commodity,a great luxury.I'm happy that I got it and it is a very welcome change from the routine.
Another special thing about this blog post is that I'm writing it from a new geographic location and time zone!! But it is not anywhere from the west..I'm in the eastern parts of the world and time is two and a half hours ahead of India.Yeah.. I'm in one of the most beautiful south east ASian countries with lots of tourist destinations, islands and beaches. Am in Malaysiaaaaa......truly Asia!!
It is my first trip to a foreign country and I am pretty much excited about it... courtesy, my husband.He is on an onsite assignment in Malaysia and I have accompanied him.Though we are not here on vacation, we did get some time during the weekends to look around Kuala Lumpur,the city where we are living now and a few important places in and around this city.
KL looked very well planned and is more technologically advanced when compared to India, though not as advanced as our western counterparts. Their express train service from KL Intrenational airport into the city is amazingly fast.Unlike our trains these are very clean.It takes you into the city in just 25 mins.Our place of stay is about 5 mins walk from KL Central.Even the roads and footpaths in this place were quite clean.SO we could easily take our trolley suit cases and reach our apartment(condominium as it is called here).And yet another place where technology is being used is the security systems.For entry into the apartment we need to swipe in our keys in front of the entrance door for it to open.Hope this system is brought in India also which would help in improving the secutirity facility in the flats.
The tall buildings and the hi-tech trains here,just make me wonder when will India attain such technological advancement. Will it be possible within this 21st century?How did a small island nation like Malaysia achieve faster economic and infrastructural development than India? What is the reason for our lack of development? Is it the population explosion or political parties or lack of skilled human resources? May be all the reasons are responsible for India to lag behind the other countries.I don't want to think about it now. This a separate topic by itself and deserves a separate post.;)
I was lucky enough to have come here during christmas and new year. I could see all the decorations in the shopping malls and restaurants and also watch the beautiful musical fountain and fireworks near KL tower and Petronas.
And that's how my new year has taken off with a big bang with this new Malaysian experience. Hope you all have also had a great blast on new year's day and are hoping for many more great days to come in this year.
So with this new year let us put all our past bagages behind and start a fresh life with hope and confidence to achieve our dreams.With this sweet message I'm signing off. Will soon write some more posts on the various places visited in Malaysia and other interesting things seen in this country.
Hoping to write many more interesting blog posts this year.
Take care and have a great year ahead!!
